Inspiration

The person who inspired me on working hard on my education (especially Physics) is Albert Einstein.
Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist and philosopher of science. He developed the general theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics (along side quantum mechanics). He is best known in popular culture for his mass–energy equivalence formula E = mc2 (which has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation"). He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect". The latter was pivotal in establishing quantum theory.
Near the beginning of his career, Einstein thought that Newtonian mechanics was no longer enough to reconcile the laws of classical mechanics with the laws of the electromagnetic field. This led to the development of his special theory of relativity. He realized, however, that the principle of relativity could also be extended to gravitational fields, and with his subsequent theory of gravitation in 1916, he published a paper on the general theory of relativity. He continued to deal with problems of statistical mechanics and quantum theory, which led to his explanations of particle theory and the motion of molecules. He also investigated the thermal properties of light which laid the foundation of the photon theory of light. In 1917, Einstein applied the general theory of relativity to model the large-scale structure of the universe.
He was visiting the United States when Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933 and, being Jewish, did not go back to Germany, where he had been a professor at the Berlin Academy of Sciences. He settled in the U.S., becoming an American citizen in 1940. On the eve of World War II, he endorsed a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt alerting him to the potential development of "extremely powerful bombs of a new type" and recommending that the U.S. begin similar research. This eventually led to what would become the Manhattan Project. Einstein supported defending the Allied forces, but largely denounced the idea of using the newly discovered nuclear fission as a weapon. Later, with the British philosopher Bertrand Russell, Einstein signed the Russell–Einstein Manifesto, which highlighted the danger of nuclear weapons. Einstein was affiliated with the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, until his death in 1955.
Einstein published more than 300 scientific papers along with over 150 non-scientific works. His intellectual achievements and originality have made the word "Einstein" synonymous with genius.

My 4 Days during MPU (Mata Pelajaran Umum) Classes [Reflection 2]

On the first day, I was like "okay okay" for the MPU classes. However, it did not turn out as I was expected it to be, rather than that, it was exciting. During the first day of MPU, I was tasked on completing an essay regarding TGC (Taylor's Graduate Capabilities). It is based on what we had learn during our SAM (South Australian Matriculation) course, which helps me on preparing for university life. This essay were completed in groups, with at a range of 5-6 people. My group mates were very co-operative in completing this essay and we also had some fun on doing so, such as chit-chatting and joking around. It took us some time though due to minor arguments about the categories in TGC (which consists of thinking skills on so on). After completing the essay, we were asked to merge with another group, and compose a skit based on our 'Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat'. The other group was also very cooperative and we had fun together during the skit (I was the narrator though). After completing the skit, we were asked to continue on our essays (obviously I finished it before the others do), and then we were allowed to go back home. Before I went back home, I was asked to create this blog due to the requirements of the MPU classes, whereby this blog is also known as the E-Portfolio. On the second day, we were tasked to write our inspiration towards our goals. In my case, the person who inspired me was Albert Einstein, by inspiring me on creating physics theory which is very relevant to matter itself. The class itself was as interesting as before due to many friends who tried to chat about who inspired them to move on. As we discuss along the way, we get to strengthen our friendship bond which is also a good thing for future group outings. On the third day, we did our SMART goal setting and our Action Plan. SMART goal setting, consists of Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-Bound. In my case, my goal was to overcome my worries in university life in terms of education and social aspects. I was aware that university life is gonna be so different from college life (more pressure and time restriction), but that doesn't mean that I will give up on my studies as I want to pursue my dream. After we planned our SMART goal setting, like the first day, we were asked to write an essay for our Action Plan based on the SMART goal setting. Hence, it took me awhile to finish it but i did finish it. On the fourth day, we were tasked to write this, our reflection on MPU classes. Well, I gotta say, its' quite fun if you have friends around (while doing our work, we can chat which can be so-called multitasking). This essay allows me to express my opinions and reflections of the MPU classes so far, and if I am able to give a rating out of 10, I would say 8/10. The other 2 points missing was due to the duration of the MPU classes (no offense though). Everyone was tired as I entered class as they have to wake up early to reach school (especially for people who lived in long distances). After that, two ladies came in for our career test, which determines on which career was suitable for us (but that doesn't mean that it can determine our fate). For my case, my suitable career was to become a lawyer or a politician. I was like, "wow, haha", it kinda surprised me that I can take on such major jobs which determines people's future just by saying a few sentences. But, in order for me to pursue my dream, I would not want to do these but instead, I want to become an Engineer. I am not saying that the career test sucks but what I am trying to say that it can give suggestions and/or ideas about our future career. That way, we won't be walking on the wrong path (nobody wants that, even you too).

My SMART goal and Action Plan!

SMART GOAL: Overcome my worries in education and social aspects in university Specific: Enter a top notch university and be able to socialize with other people

Measurable: Time management has to be well done and joining group outings and so on

Attainable: Studying smart and try to talk to other people

Relevant: Having consultations with teachers and lecturers and also group discussions with friends

Time-bound: Achieving minimum CGPA of 3.5

In life, everyone has their own goals, even I personally have my own goals. However, my main goal is to getting adept to the university life. This is because before we start our career, we have to achieve a good university degree in order to be accepted into our first job which is also essential to get job experience for our future jobs. This main goal sounds easy, but actually it is difficult to attain provided if i want to enter into foreign campus universities such as Monash University Malaysia, Heriot Watt University, University of Nottingham, and so on.

However, being enter into these kind of university is not impossible, what worries me is that the lifestyle in the particular university i am going. But for now, i plan to focus more on social life first in order to communicate with other people from various places. By working to this goal, there will always be good and difficult stuffs. At the good stuff, i will be able to communicate with other people, which improves my communication skills at many points. It also boosts my confidence to talk to other people in my future university from many different courses. However, difficult as it can be during my current situation as i am shy in front of other people (I can communicate online though, but in my opinion i rather focus on the 'real life' instead of 'virtual life'). Even though i want to achieve my goal, but it is a little bit difficult which proves to be an obstacle to me. One of the main obstacles is due to my family, which strictly to focus on my education instead of my social life. I was shocked to hear that from the head but i still have my siblings which supports me in social life. But at one day, i was sent to live alone due to travel distance from the house. A personal driver would take me to school and home back and forth. However, i was be able to make some friends whom i call them 'family'. After months of research, i have analyzed that in university life, we also have to be good at time management. In order to balance education and social together, i have to manage my time well. Hence, the goal in getting used into university life has to start now in order for me to be prepared into it and also achieving a CGPA of 3.5.

University Placement Choices

Personally, I prefer to have a foreign Bachelor Degree in order to pursue my dream. Hence, I probably would enter into Monash University Malaysia. If I have the chance, I would also probably be going to overseas to further my studies, however, that is only a possibility

Releflection 1

Throughout the year I studied at SAM, I had been given assignments and this gave us a lot of opportunity to gain some experience and learn some skills. One of the assignment which is Mathematical Studies folio had helped us in developing our Taylor's Graduate Capabilities, TGC. This TGC is also known as problem solving and thinking skills. When the assignment is given, the teacher gives us time to plan the content of the folio. We also learnt on how to apply the mathematical theory into the folio so that we can do the work without any problem. Thus, TGC can be applied in our university admission during interview where we can solve these questions with our problem solving skills. Moreover, we can solve problems in daily life efficiently. We can improve this TGC by seeking help from teachers and lecturers. Furthermore, we should not give up, keep thinking, and crack your brain juice. One of the assignment which is the ESL presentation had helped us in developing TGC. One of the TGC is the developing digital literacy. For an example, when we're doing ESL presentations during the class hours, it is done by using the slides such as Microsoft Power-point. These slides were included with pictures, videos, texts, and graphs, and then it is presented in data form. This activity actually benefits in university such as doing the assignments. Moreover, this activity can apply in working and profession courses by presenting it in slide form. It can be done in presenting the proposal and also reports. By using this software, it can be used for advertising to make it more creative. This TGC can be improved by attending the IT class which really benefits us. To get more information we can Google search and self explore to get more details on IT Another benefit of having the ESL presentation is that the boosting our communication skill which is under the TGC category. Boosting our communication skills are done via group discussions and taking suggestions from our ESL teacher. Presentations were done by the collaboration among group members. For example, before the date of the presentation begins, each member was given a task to ensure the highest result can be achieved depending on the perfection and hard work on our tasks. ESL Presentation are essential in career profession and university assignments. many major companies and groups such as Kimberly Clark, UEM group, and so on, requires high performance skill on presentation. Communication skills are also essential in communicating with higher ups, such as the Director, CEO, and many more who has the higher authority. Communication skills can be improved by making more friends and be active in social life.

My Biography

Hi, my name is Chew Sung Shen, but my friends call me Marcus. This year, i did my SAM (South Australian Matriculation) in Taylor's College Subang Jaya. I've met many new people, which includes lecturers and friends, who are very helpful and are willing to help in anyway (in a good way though). My dream is to create a car, which requires Engineering skills, these skills are fundinmental for the driver's and passenger's safety, and also a car which has high top notch speed. I was born in Wilayah Persekutuan, Kuala Lumpur
